Post author in Coraline
Me and my friends started a group blog in Portuguese where will blog about Physics and Math. We are tempted to go with the Coraline theme but the problem is that it isn’t displaying the author’s name together with the post as you can see: http://mardedirac.wordpress.com/
Now I know that it is possible to show the author’s name in Coraline because of this: http://climbingthemountain.wordpress.com/
So the question is: what am I doing wrong for the author’s name not to be displayed with a post in our group blog. Thanks for all the help.
The blog I need help with is climbingthemountain.wordpress.com.
Coraline does not display the author’s name in the metadata for posts and there is no way to change that. It was the designer’s decision.
You can change to a different theme that does show the author’s name: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/author-displayed-or-not/
Or you can have each author insert a “byline” at the top of each of their posts.
Another thing you can do is use the author grid widget which will show the gravatar for each author and if someone clicks on the authors gravatar, they will get a listing of just the posts for that author.
Thanks a lot. I think I’ll change theme then.
A last question though: the daily post manages to present the post author. Is this the result of a CSS upgrade?
“the daily post ” is a Staff blog so I guess they have managed what we can’t do. http://dailypost.wordpress.com/
Ohhhh, an extra perk eh?!
Once again thanks for all the info.
Coraline can display the author if you have the CSS upgrade. See here:
And that’s what I’m talking about. I guess I’ll have to change the theme back to coraline, then.
Thanks for all the help!
