Posterous Backup file more than 15 MB
posterous backup file more than 15 MB. How can I import these blogs worth 270 MB?
The blog I need help with is rajithagopinath.wordpress.com.
Have you tried splitting the content into smaller XML export files? I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.
Thanks for the reply. I haven’t tried splitting, actually I don’t know how to do it. But still will that mean that I will have to split the entire 270 MB in 15 MB files and then import, which would mean, an importing activity of nearly 18 times. Is there an easy way out??
That’s probably because you’re trying to upload the entire Posterous .zip backup. As detailed at http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-posterous/ please try just the WordPress .xml file, which will be significantly smaller.
Thank you Macmanx. Its done! I figured that the WP staff today has given import details for posterous.
Would you please let us know which details are incorrect? Our instructions came directly from Posterous.
The instructions weren’t incorrect. I think they were just incomplete. The idea that .xml flies had to be uploaded once you unzip the posterous backup didn’t quite strike me at first.
Were you looking at Posterous’s instructions or ours?
Click to download the zip file. This file includes your images, audio, and video files along with a directory containing a web page for each of your posts. It also includes a file named wordpress_export_1.xml. Although the other files serve as a backup of all of your content that you should consider saving for posterity, the xml file is what you’ll use to import into WordPress.com.
