Posterous import not working

    Hi

    The Posterous import function is not prompting for an XML file, going straight to the Processing… page. Can you assist, please?

    The blog I need help with is christinequyen.wordpress.com.

    Hi there:

    I checked your import and it looks like you tried to upload the .zip file, not the XML file. Note that the zip file itself will not work. You’ll find the XML file inside the zip file that Posterous allows you to download as part of the backup process.

    I cleared your import queue and you should be able to try it again. Let us know if you still have trouble.

    Thank you – that’s exactly what she did. (I’m her friend, assigned to help her out).
    I’ve kicked off the transfer now, using the XML file as per the instructions.

    She has received an email indicating that the import has been completed, however the site is still empty. The XML file is 198Kb, the actual Zip file is 195Mb, and her Posterous site (for reference) is http://christinenqtq.posterous.com/

    Please advise what we should do next.

    I was able to recover the XML file and I processed the import for you (and her!). You should see every post there now.

    I did notice that the post on her Posterous site titled “Just wanted to do something for my day.” was not included in the export file in case she wanted to recreate it on her new WordPress.com site.

    We now have one remaining problem. The majority of comments did not come through on the transfer, but I can see them in the XML file. What can we do to import those?

    Hi – thanks for your patience.

    We had to make some changes to how the Posterous files are imported. I can run the import again, but I wanted to get your OK to empty http://christinequyen.wordpress.com/ of all content – including the one post that was created today.

    I’ll wait to hear back from you regarding emptying the site of content so we can try the import again.

    Yes, it is OK to run the import again.
    I am able to recreate the 2013 post later.
