posting to my blog

Hi. I’m a complete newbie to blogging and have got stuck on something and have been unable to find the answer though it is probably staring me in the face. It has two parts really. I created a blog and wrote my first post the other day and everything was fine. Then I decided I wanted to write about another subject area (book reviews) so I created a new category on the header menu. When I checked my blog I found that the one I had posted previously was also in the new category. So, my first question is how to remove the post from that category but still keep it in the main blog part and, secondly, how to determined where posts I write will appear on my blog, that is, in the main blog or in any other categories I create. Thanks very much in advance : )

The blog I need help with is

    HI there,
Book Reviews and About are static pages.

    (1) There is only one page we can post to in any blog and
    (2) The static pages we bloggers create do not automatically update.

Only the dynamic pages like Archives, Categories and Tags created by the software when we publish a post will update automatically update with new posts.

By default the front page of the blog is the Page that displays all posts in your blog. You can create a static front page but doing that does not change what follows.

Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.

We can also add other items into a custom menu like static Pages but as I said above no static Pages will ever automatically update.

    This may be helpful

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.

    Hi timethief,
Thanks for the feedback. I had continued to research the subject myself and had kind of figured out that I couldn’t post to specific places but your answer has made how it all works much more clearer and given me more ideas on how to lay out my blog. Thanks again so much for taking the time to point me in the right direction, you’ve made a newbie blogger’s experience a whole lot better, Cheers : )
