Posting to WordPress.com forum

  1. How can someone post a question about a WordPress.com blog here without the topic being immediately closed out? A friend I started a blog with here several years ago just tried to do so and the post was closed out as of 44 years ago.

  2. What is the URL of the blog, what is the question, and why isn't your friend posting it himself?

  3. As I mentioned in my second sentence, he tried to do so and his attempt was quarantined. By doing so and by dropping access to Support, WordPress.com has made itself unavailable solve his problem.

The blogs in question are http://aleksandreia.wordpress.com and http://www.aleksandreia.com, its self-hosted successor.

A screenshot of the underlying problem as well as the problem contacting WordPress.com can be seen here:

  4. We cannot assist you with self-hosted blogs. What blog are you focusing on?

  5. Thanks, raincoaster. I understand you can't help with self-hosted blogs. As I mentioned, the blog my friend is trying to get help with is http://aleksandreia.wordpress.com.

The full problem is spelled out in the screen grab of the blocked forum post I linked to above, but if you don't read it from there, I suppose I could type it out. I think I could also post a link to the header at http://aleksandreia.wordpress.com if that would help.

Should I type out the text of the blocked post describing the WordPress.com blog problem? Is this still the right place to get help with WordPress.com blogs?

  6. I notice that 4 hours after I answered Raincoaster's questions in full about the owner of http://alexandria.wordpress.com not even being allowed to reach WordPress.com about his WordPress.com blog status there have been at least 2 other threads about WordPress.com blogs not being deleted as requested, one of which was answered by a Happiness Engineer.

So what seems to be the particular problem with this particular blog, http://aleksandreia.wordpress.com and/or its owner? As I already mentioned, I was an initial co-founder and administrator of the blog.

  7. As I already mentioned, I was an initial co-founder and administrator of the blog.

To delete a free hosted WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered a blog to delete the blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/ If the email is not received please check in your email client spam/ junk mail filter as well as your "social" tab in Gmail if you use Gmail.

The 44 year glitch is a roving bug that rarely occurs. I'll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thank you, timethief. Yes, it is, which is why the WordPress.com blog Stuart and I founded in 2008 is named http://aleksandreia.wordpress.com instead.

I don't know what policies were in effect when Stuart attempted to delete the blog from WordPress.com and removed me as co-administrator at my request, but I have no blogs under my name now, Stuart says he can't access http://aleksandreia.wordpress.com, only the self-hosted successor http://www.aleksandreia.com, and WordPress.com has still been redirecting the WordPress.com blog to the self-hosted site for free for over a year now.

Thanks for pointing staff to this so it can finally get sorted out.

  9. You're welcome and best wishes with sorting this out.

  10. If it helps, Stuart informs me that at the time he deleted the WordPress.com blogs he received the following generic confirmation emails with confirmation links and executed all 3 as requested.

    Dear User,
You recently clicked the 'Delete Blog' link on your blog and filled in a
    form on that page.
If you really want to delete your blog, click the link below. You will not
be asked to confirm again so only click this link if you are 100% certain:
    https://%5Brespectiveblognames%5D.wordpress.com/wp-admin/tools.php?page=delete-blog&%5Brespective alphanumeric strings]

If you delete your blog, please consider opening a new WordPress.com blog
some time in the future! But remember your current blog is gone forever.

    Thanks for using the site,
    All at WordPress.com

  11. It appears that the user in question has no existing blogs on WordPress.com, and that they had their forums posting privileges revoked.

  12. The site aleksandreia.wordpress.com was deleted on January 13, 2013.
