Posting Under Wrong Date

  1. When publishing a saved draft post, the post is actually published as the last saved date rather than the actual date. Then my email notifications are incorrect; when I change the date after I've posted so the post shows up in the correct timeline, the notification link no longer works. This post was the last one-it's happened for several weeks now.

The blog I need help with is

  2. The solution is to check the datestamp prior to publication and edit it if required.

I'll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  3. Thanks timethief. That's my current work around, but I don't recall ever having this issue before. Isn't that the benefit of scheduling posts? Even the ones I schedule post to the last saved date rather than the scheduled post date.

  4. Hi again,
Thanks for telling us this is a scheduled posts issue and please be patient while waiting.

  5. It's not exclusive to scheduled posts. I have to visit the site to actually get my scheduled posts to show up once they've been "posted." It's mainly an issue with a post I draft, revise and then wish to post days later. When I do click 'post' it shows up several days in the past. Changing the date after the fact makes the email notification link invalid.
    Thanks for your help!!!

  6. Hi there, I can see that one of your scheduled posts is set to publish soon. Can you get back to me on how the one goes? Please leave the post as is so I can take a look. Thanks!

  7. Sure thing!

  8. The only thing I planned to do was visit the site shortly after it's scheduled to make sure it shows up, should I not do this?

  9. Hey Sarah!

I checked out your post, Reimbursements Go the Distance, and it appears to be showing the correct publish date. Can you confirm this? Thanks!

  10. Hi Druesome, the post you mentioned would be dated correctly because the issue I have with scheduled posts (Reimbursements...) is that they do not actually 'post' or appear on the site until the first visitor. My issue is with upcoming posts (like Drop and Gimme 10 mins) which states it was last updated on 6/20. So if I publish it right now it will be posted under that date instead of today? I'm sorry if this is so confusing.

  11. Ok, would you mind working with me on one post? I have drafted "Stop and Gimme 5 Minutes" which was last modified today (6/25). If I post this post tomorrow (not scheduled), it will be posted under 6/25 rather than 6/26. Does that make sense? I'll go ahead and post it tomorrow morning.

  12. That would be great. Let's see how it goes. Thanks!

  13. The post is up, and it worked! The date is correct!

  14. Oh, that's excellent Sarah! If the problem happens again, please don't hesitate to contact us.

  15. I have had problems with Windows Live Writer doing something to the date that WordPress.COM can not deal with and the Post gets published with the time / date stamp that I uploaded the Post to my site - I had to "adjust" the time / date a few times before publishing the Post - Scheduled Posts seem to get around this "feature"

Scheduled Posts are a strange animal - they publish when the first visitor visits after the scheduled time / date - then the time / date is set back to the scheduled time - NOT the ACTUAL time / date that it was published - subscribe to your blog with email if you don't believe me.

  16. I posted something this morning that posted under yesterday's date (

Are you able to assist me? Thanks!

  17. Hey Sarah,

Was the post scheduled or did you publish it from a saved draft?

  18. I published it from a saved draft.

  19. Hi!

I'm seeing that your blog's Timezone is set to "Vancouver" in Settings -> General of your blog admin:

Is there any chance that you're publishing in a different location that might be causing the date to appear incorrect?

  20. I'm located in Seattle, Washington.

  21. Don't know if Canada does Daylight Savings time - Los Angeles, California is in the correct time zone for Seattle

  22. Hey Sarah,

Did changing the timezone help in any way?

  23. Hey Druesome,
So far so good! Thank you!
