  1. Hi

The last 3 published posts have disappeared from my blog (they were there) and a new one sheduled this morning isn't showing either.

The strange thing is that they are showing as published in the dashboard. I recently linked my posts to facebook and the one scheduled for this morning is showing there but not on my blog.

When you click on the link in facebook to the post it takes you to a different page.

My blog is and the Facebook page is also tracygracedesigns

    Can anyone help?

    Many thanks

The blog I need help with is

  2. Just to add.....

My whole site seems to have reverted to what it looked like over a week ago.

Changes made to the menu and categories are no longer showing on the site itself but everything is still up to date in dashboard.

  3. Can someone please help with this?

  4. Is anyone else having this problem?

  5. I don't see an Admin bar on the top of your free hosted blog. I'll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  6. Thank you timethief

  7. Any news on this?

  8. Hi Tracy,

It looks like your custom domain isn't correctly pointed at This is most likely causing the problems you are seeing on your site.

Please go to your domain registrar's site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers to the following values:

For more information, please visit the help documentation provided by the registrar and our support page: Map an Existing Domain

Once your domain is correctly pointed at, the issues you mentioned should be resolved. However, if you have any questions or if you continue to have trouble with it, please let me know!

  9. Hi rachelmcr

Thank you so much for your reply. I have done what you instructed and it does seem to have saved the values.

How long does it usually take to update as it is still pointing to what my site looked like over a week ago?

  10. Hi Tracy,

It can take 48-72 hours for domain changes to take effect everywhere, so you may need to wait a bit for the new name server settings to start working. You can also check with your domain registrar to make sure that the name server values were saved properly.

If you still have trouble with this after a couple days, please let me know and I can take another look for you!

  11. Hi rachelmcr

The problem hasn't been corrected yet. I don't understand how the settings can just be lost like this and am even more surprised at how long it takes to update given that I have paid for the domain name as an upgrade from wordpress.

Is there anything you can do to hurry this up or check I have made the update correctly and how can I stop this from happening again?

  12. Hi rachelmcr

Can I please have some help with this?

The problem still isn't fixed and it has now been like this since the 15th.

  13. Hi Tracy,

Looking at the public data for your domain,, it appears that your nameservers are still pointing to a different host (appears to be GoDaddy).

Here is a link to GoDaddy's support documentation on changing nameservers ( ) or you may need to contact their support for additional assistance.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or need anything else.

  14. Hi krafbj

Thanks for your email. I am confused though, I bought my domain name via the wordpress upgrade section in admin so don't know anything about godaddy.

I followed the advice given days ago expecting the name servers to be updated via the upgrade pages, why hasn't this worked?

  15. Hi krafbj

Unfortunately I can't follow these instructions as you have to have an account with with godaddy which I don't as the domain purchase was done with wordpress via the upgrade options.

I really am going round in circles with this problem and am more and more confused.

I bought this domain name from worpress over a year ago initially and renewed it in august. Everything was fine until 5 days ago. I don't know anything about godaddy.

How is this going to be resolved quickly?

  16. Can I please have a response to my questions?

  17. Hi Tracy,

It appears that in August 2012, you did purchase the domain from, but sometime before May 2013, the domain was transferred to a different registrar, apparently GoDaddy. The public database has the contact information hidden, but references GoDaddy as the registrar:

Since the domain was no longer registered via, the upgrade on your account shifted from registration to mapping, our upgrade for connecting domains registered elsewhere with

    I'm researching this further.

  18. Hi

This really needs sorting out. It can't have come at a worst time as I am using my blog to advertise an event I am organising which happens in a few weeks. There isn't any point posting anything as no one can see it.

I had no idea that my domain name circumstances had changed as you describe.

How long is it going to take to sort this out and can it please be treated with some urgency?

  19. Hi Tracy,

For what this is worth, I'm off today, but working between family events only on your issue despite that. When transferring a domain to a different registrar, you have to also pay for another year. Any chance you could review your e-mails from May to determine if you received anything from GoDaddy?

In any event, the nameservers with GoDaddy need to be changed to, and to display your site again at your domain name. Since it is registered with GoDaddy, we can't make that change.

If you could attempt to login at GoDaddy, and use their recovery process to have your customer number sent to you (requiring your domain name and e-mail address), you could login and make that change, your site would appear again.

  20. Hi krafbj

Many thanks for working on this, apologies for my frustration but I feel like I am stuck in the middle of this mess through no fault of my own and unable to do anything about it.

I can confirm that until you mentioned go daddy I didn't even know who they were and have had no contact with them. I have NOT been informed about any of the changes you have described.

To my knowledge, the domain name I purchased was with wordpress and still was.

Essentially, I can't change the name servers with go daddy as it is not registered in my name and there is no connection between me and the domain name I purchased from wordpress. I liaised with their support in the early hours of this morning and they confirmed they can't help.

I can't log in to go daddy as I don't exist there.

I really am at a loss as to how this can be resolved......

Given that wordpress transferred the domain name they really should sort this.

  21. With a domain transfer, the transfer is initiated by the "winning" registrar. Before the transfer can take place, someone has to login to the domain manger via your login, unlock the domain, and submit a transfer code, then acknowledge the transfer via e-mail.

I'll ask for some other opinions here on possible options.

  22. Hi kraftbj

I can assure you that I definitely didn't do any of that. I didn't even know the domain name was with anyone other than wordpress until you said.

I followed the instructions that I was initially given by your colleague and expected it to work from the domains page in the dashboard but it hasn't even though it confirms 'New DNS records saved' they are not being updated fully.

I really am at loss with this..... but thank you for dealing with it.

    Kind regards

  23. Hi

    Any progress on this?

  24. I'm waiting to hear back from GoDaddy to confirm the circumstances of the transfer.

That said, since it is registered elsewhere and can't make changes to the domain settings, the best immediate option would be to start using your address, instead of your domain, in the meantime. The address displays the site as you'd expect.

Since you don't have any knowledge of the transfer, the most likely scenario is that someone with access to your e-mail and/or your passwords initiated the transfer, setup (and is paying for) hosting with another service, and made the copy of your site to appear on the other hosting service.

Any chance a business partner, friend, etc who is helping you out could have made these changes?

  25. Hi kraftbj

Firstly, I can't stress enough that it was not me or anyone I know that has made the transfer that you refer to.

Secondly, I rang the go daddy support number on Saturday night and they confirmed categorically that they can't up date the name servers and that wordpress do indeed buy the domain names from them but then wordpress do their own support so godaddy have no access to the account.

This is the second time I have contacted them and they say the same thing, which is wordpress need to update the name servers.

Now whilst I fully appreciate that you are trying to help sort this out, I believe that wordpress bought the domain from godaddy which would explain why I know nothing about godaddy until this problem has arisen and why it is registered as private. Apologies but I dont agree with your most likely scenario.

Basically I have paid for a domain name that I have no access to or can use through no fault of my own. I have used this domain name on all the literature (paper and electronic) to promote my event and now it is useless.

Godaddy gave me an email address of [email redacted] and advised me to send an email there to ask for the name servers to he updated because they absolutely cannot do it. I did this and still dont have a reply 2 days later.

I am being batted back and forth between wordpress and godaddy and quite frankly it is not very fair and incredibly frustrating to keep repeating the same thing for a week now.

Is there somewhere this problem can be escalated to enable it to be sorted once and for all?

  26. Hi Tracy,

The e-mail was received and I'm happy to continue the conversation there.

In short, the domain is no longer in our portfolio, so we can't change the nameservers. We simply don't have the access to do so.

I am waiting to hear back from GoDaddy regarding the transfer to determine if there was an error on their end somehow.

I'll respond to your e-mail now and we can keep going there.
