What I would like to know is when I post a post under a category, why it still comes up on the home page. I was wondering if I can take it off the home page and just keep it on the category page that is on my menu. Can it be changed?

The blog I need help with is

Among the most common misconceptions is that bloggers fail to understand is
    (1) there is only one page we can post to one any blog and
    (2) the static pages they create do not automatically update.

Only the dynamic pages like Categories, Tags and Archives created by the software when we publish a post we that we have assigned Categories and Tags too will update automatically update with posts.

By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.

The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.

    Choice 1 static front page
Choice 2 running page for all posts on front page

Which do you choose? It’s one or the other.

If you choose a static front page then you have to create two pages as I said above. After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

    Front page displays
    __ Your latest posts

    A static page (select below)
    Front page:
    Posts page:

Posts will always show on the posts page; that cannot be supressed. You can if you like date all your posts in one category for a decade ago and then they’ll be on the main posts so far back they won’t show up. The problem is that if you have existing posts in that category dated for more modern years, they will show up on the category page on top of the newer posts unless you edit the date on those as well.
