Previously registered domain from another source
I registered a domain years ago but I think it’s lapsed. I want to know if I can get it again before I upgrade to pro. I no longer have any idea of how to access my old domain. Please help.
The blog I need help with is scenesfromabus.wordpress.com.
I see my old site is still up and running but I’m not sure if I still own the domain name. http://www.imagesandobjects.ca
That site is not being hosted by WordPress.com and you are posting to the wrong support forum. We cannot help you here. Support for your website software and any advice you need are provided on the WordPress.org support forums and they are here http://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org, click that link and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the correct support forums for your software.
magesandobjects.ca Is Hosted by Zymos
If you want to map your domain name magesandobjects.ca to your blog here – you need to go back to your registrar and follow the instructions below – probably a good idea to also talk with your old host about the payments – etc
Name: ZiD.com Division of ZYMOS Computer Systems Inc.
Thanks timetheif. I tried the link you posted but I can’t log in. Do you know if I can use my wordpress.com log in or I need to register again?
@auxclass: what I want to do is move my site to wordpress but I’m not sure if I still own the domain name. The whole thing confuses me and frankly I wish I could call someone at wordpress and just ask.
I contacted CIRA and they told me:
You will need to contact the current Registrar by email and ask that the domain name be unlocked and that they provide you with the transfer authorization code for the domain.
Note on domain names – WordPress.COM is not set up to accept transfers of existing domain names into their system – you can map the domain name to your blog here – but the domain name will need to be registered not at WordPress.COM
