Problem with Manifest Menu

    1. The menu item of the currently displayed page does not stay bold the way the Manifest demo shows it should. This means that when I’m on the ‘About’ page, ‘About should be bold in the menu to let me know where I currently am (see: ).

    Anyone know how to do this?

    The blog I need help with is

    I’m using Firefox 7 and all of these links become “bold” and stay that way when I click them and visit those pages (About, Archives, Links). I think you may have a browser issue so please try clearing your browser cache and cookies. You can also upgrade any outdated browser version here.

    Hey timethief. Just checked – my safari is up to date, I emptied the cache and cookies – still no go.

    thesacredpath seems to have the same problem – you probably saw it in the other post:

    “1. There seems to be something going on with the theme when you choose custom fonts that staff are going to have to look into..

    “On #1, post that problem into the “themes” forum. I tried overriding the font-variant a couple of different ways and could not get the current page item styling to come back.”

    I did use custom fonts – then I reverted. No bold.

    Thanks for letting us know about this, kapansa. We’ll look into it and see what’s up.

    Thanks man

    Kapansa, menu item bold-highlighting is working correctly for me with and without Custom Fonts in Safari on my end. Are you still running into the same issue?

    Yea buddy – I switched it back to the base Manifest theme to try it out again – at least I don’t see it as bold, do you?

    I have now used IE8 both with out without using compatibility mode. I can detect no issue at all. Every menu link I click changes to “bold” lettering exactly as it should in IE8 and in Firefox 7.

    Also note that using both IE8 and Firefox 7 this link is changing to “bold” ie. it’s operating correctly.

    just to be clear – i mean that the menu item you click STAYS BOLD to show that you are on that page. Each of them turns bold when I put my cursor over them, but go grey again when i move the cursor away. And if I’m on the “Experiences” page, the “Experiences” menu item looks just as faded as the rest. But on the wordpress theme pages for manifest – it demos this working properly.

    i just installed Firefox 6.0.2 for the mac – nothing….

    I feel like I’m going crazy – lol

    It is just important because I get rid of the “category: experiences” header in my CSS mod. I still want to be able to see what page I’m on.

    more precicely – I want it to stay black, not bold. But I figure the fix is similar for both.

    Ah. If you want it to stay black but not bold you’ll need something like the following in your custom CSS.

    #main-nav .current-menu-item > a {
    	font-weight: normal;

    I hope that helps!

    HEY! That worked with a little twist (It wasn’t staying black NOR bold)

    I used your code and tweaked it to:

    #main-nav .current-menu-item > a {

    Worked like a charm! Thanks for that line of code man, this stuff is new to me, I’m just figuring out how to edit what’s there, but I can’t create new stuff.

    Thanks again!

    themeshaper, i got current menu items to stay black. When I click a sub-menu item (child?) it stays black (which is what I want), but it’s parent menu item goes grey. The sub-menu (drop down) menu disappears without a cursor, so I’m still left wondering where I am at times.

    Any way to get the parent menu item to stack black along with it’s sub-menu item staying black?

    @kapansa That latest issue was a bug with menu ancestor items that were categories and not pages. It should be fixed now, but since you are not using Manifest’s stylesheet —and only using what you have in your custom css— you won’t inherit bug fixes.

    It is best if you just copy and modify concrete parts while still loading the original stylesheet: “Use this as a reference and do not copy and paste all of it into the CSS Editor.” Just change the bits you want.

    Thanks for reporting.

    thanks matiasventura – good to know.

    You’re welcome. Let us know if you need any more help.

    Does anybody know how to add a categories page to this theme? What code do I put into the page?
