Problem with pictures in posts
Today I wrote a very long post and included several pictures. After completing and publishing the post, I went back to edit it and then saved it. The pictues then disappeared, to be replaced with the link to the files.
All of the photos in the piece were linked photos (so that the reader could enlarge to see the full pic) stored here at WordPress. I couldn’t delete the little boxes with the linked file name in them. Even when I went into the HTML code and removed the picture references, they came back. I literally had to delete the entire post and then repost it.
This is the second time this has happened, and it is always on a long post with several pictures. The first time it happened, I thought I had done something wrong (I thought I had inadvertently pressed the little icon for linked picture in the Tiny MCE editor) but this time I know I didn’t.
Does anyone have a clue what happened here & how I can avoid it in the future? Thanks!
excuse me i clicked the wrong one.
Vivian, without seeing this post, there’s not a whole lot I can suggest.
I’m guessing though that it’s this post? I was thinking that maybe you were using restricted characters in your file names which would then get encoded (ie changing a space into
%20) and then, when you edited the post, it got encoded yet again, messing up the URLs.
But your files names seem fine. You havn’t edited them, have you? I copied your post over on my test blog and did some editing but the pics showed up every time. I even used TinyMCE and they still came out fine.
I’m at a loss on this one.
Dr Mike – yes, that’s the post. No, I didn’t change any file names and I made sure that there were no spaces in the names after y’all told me not to do that before.
I don’t know what happens. And it only does it on the long posts like that.
The other thing is I wonder if they were doing server maintenance during that time.
Thanks for looking into this for me.
