Problem with RSS Link Widget
If you are using a Chrome browser there is no built-in feed reader. You have to download the RSS Subscription Extension (by Google)
I suspect you are using the Chrome browser. Google, in their infinite wisdom [sic] did not include an RSS reader in the Chrome browser, which will go down as one of the great mysteries of all time.
You will either have to view RSS feeds in a feed reader such as Google Reader, or do a search on the internet and find a feed reader plugin to install in Chrome.
Thanks for the prompt response, appreciated. Your suspicion is correct, I am using Chrome. I’ve just worked out how to use Google Reader, so that sorts me out.
So I can assume that other people wanting to follow my blog using the RSS feed won’t have a problem, unless they’re also using Chrome?
You’re welcome. The extension I linked to above is free of charge. We advise people using Chrome browsers to download it and use it. I think it’s becoming common knowledge now that the extension is required.
That is correct. As long as they aren’t using Chrome (Firefox is sort of an issue as well since it doesn’t have a reader, but does have an automatically updating bookmarking thing for feeds).
You might consider putting a text widget right above the RSS feed widget alerting people to the fact that if they are using Chrome, they will have to use an outside feed reader, or get a plugin.
Thank you, and thanks to timethief for the link to the Chrome RSS Subscription Extension. I’m good to go. Have a great day.
You are welcome.
