I recently started a second blog on WP.com. On the day I launched the blog, the first post was viewed three times and “liked” by several people (I don’t recall how many). Since then, it’s been “liked” a few more times (5 in total) but the stats still only show 3 views.
I made a second post today which has already received two “likes”. However, the post has no views recorded under the stats — in total, my two posts have 7 likes but only 3 views. I’m guessing this is some kind of bug in the stats reporting? When I click on the stats for a single post, the table of monthly average views includes years from 1970 to 2013. My other blog seems to be working fine and only shows averages for the current year.
Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat.
