Problems in importing from Posterous
I ran import process from posterous http://cody-cz.posterous.com/, but it is almost 24 hours and nothing appear in my WordPress site http://bloxxter.wordpress.com/. I fill correct login data and do all recommended stuff from http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-posterous/. I am really afraid about my content at Posterous and I really want to switch to WordPress. Can you help me please with the importing? I can see only “Processing…We’re processing your import now and will send you an email when it’s all done. If you don’t hear from us within 24 hours, please contact support, and we’ll get everything fixed.”. Thanks for any help you can provide. Pavel Ungr

I removed that import for you; it appears to have stalled. Could you try again please? Let me know if this isn’t successful!

Another thing to check is to make sure that your file size isn’t too large – you may need to break the file into pieces in order to successfully import.
Hello again, I ran it yesterday nad today I still can see only “We’re processing your import now and will send you an email when it’s all done. If you don’t hear from us within 24 hours, please contact support, and we’ll get everything fixed.”. I dont import from file but directly via login access from section Tools – Import – Posterous.
One last try! Could you export a WXR file from Posterous and import it using the WordPress option here:
Occasionally when the API fails, we find our users have success with importing the file this way.
I try import XML file exported from backup tool in posterous. Unfortunately Posterous does not allow export to WXR file, only to XML. I run export and message “We’re processing your import now and will send you an email when it’s all done. If you don’t hear from us within 24 hours, please contact support, and we’ll get everything fixed.” appeared. I will wait til tomorrow and let you know the results.
An XML file is fine as well!

For the record, I’m trying to migrate my posterous accounts to self-hosted wordpress blogs; I already tried to “import wordpress” in my self-hosted blog using the XML file from the posterous export tool, and it did not work – just got a bunch of “failed to import” messages. After researching online, all tutorials online said to register for a free wordpress.com blog, import from posterous, then export that to your self-hosted blog, which is what brought me here ;)
