Program menu button to link directly without going to a page

  • I need help with the menu button to execute in one step. Menu button is programmed within a page with the outside web address link. Right now when I press the menu , it takes me to the bottom of the page and I have to click it again. Is there a way to create a menu without creating a page and instead link outstide web address? Thank you very much

  • Hi there,

Yes, you can do this by creating a custom menu under Appearance > Menus in your dashboard. We have a full guide to creating custom menus here: Custom Menus

When you set up your custom menu, you can create a custom link to any web address you want. That way, visitors can click directly from your menu to an outside web address.

Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)

  • Thank you very much for providing the resolution. It works! But, is there a way to open an outside web address link to a new window/tab?

  • Hi there,

Yes, you can do that, too. :) After you get to the Menus page (under Appearance > Menus) you can click on the “Screen Options” tab in the upper right corner of the page. Under Show advanced menu properties, click the box next to “Link target.”

On each of the items in your menu, you’ll now see a checkbox that says “Open link in a new window/tab.” You can check that box on any of the menu items you want to have open in a new window or tab. (Be sure to save your menu when you’re done with that step.)

Please let me know if you have any other questions about that. :)
