Providing access to entire blog to select users
I would like to know the process of setting up your entire blog to select users. On the privacy settings, I see that you can enter usernames manually (up to 35), but there is no place to set up a password, which you are prompted to enter when going to the site’s URL. Do the users you set up need to register for wordpress.com password…is this the password that would need to be entered here?
Additionally, if you pay for the unlimited number of users, does each user need to be entered manually in the same way, or is there an advanced feature that lets you import a list?
Thanks in advance for any help.
The blog I need help with is waldolib.wordpress.com.
Passwords and such will be taken care of by wordpress. When you invite someone, if they do not have a wordpress.COM account, they will have to sign up for one (don’t have to get a blog, just a username and password). If they already have a wordpress.COM account, then they will just be able to use that username and password to access your blog once you have invited them.
You will have to enter each user manually even with the upgrade.
Sorry for the late follow-up question here….I have gotten sidetracked…
So, how do the “invites” get created…or don’t they. You just send people the URL of your blog and then they will be prompted to sign up for a wordpress.com account?
Which should happen first….setting them up as a user in the settings of your blog, or having them sign up for a wordpress account?
I am just trying to figure out the process of how this would work. Once they get a username and password with wordpress…they would have to then provide this information to me to set them up, is that right?
