1) We’d like to interview authors as we go along, and would like to have clickable thumbnails of the books of the authors we’ve interviewed (or just a profile photo) on the right hand side of the page, between “contributors” and “calendar”. We are already using the “Authors” widget to show who has contributed to the site. But advertising the books of the authors we interview is different. What is the best way of doing this?
PS, you can see an example of what we’d like here:
Probably making a text widget is your best bet. Text widgets MUST be formatted in html, which sounds daunting until you realise you can just use the normal Write Post function to format them. If you write them, click to the HTML editor, and copy all the text, then paste that, it will work. Do not ever his Publish on that post, obviously.
The html code in the text widget would be something like this:
<a href="http://url"><img src="http://pictureurl" width="50" height="50" border="0"> some text caption</a>
The url would link to an authors own site for example. The picture url you could upload in you r wordpress image gallery or it could be a picture anywhere on the internet. Remember to put the height and width of the image; this makes for faster loading op the page.
