    You are not using the Stay theme and your post here is completely off topic which only creates confusion. Please click this link and start your own thread > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1

    Also know in advance that advertising banners are not allowed on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. These are what will get a WordPress.com blog suspended:

    You’re misusing the theme. The Home page template is supposed to display a slider that links to other pages and displays their featured images – check the theme demo:
    http://staydemo.wordpress.com/
    In that case you must not set a featured image to the home page, and you must not include it in the pages you assign to the home slider (in Appearance > Customize).
    If you’re not interested in having such a home page, you need to edit the page you’ve set as your front and select the default template for it.

    hi justpi, that was helpful, thank you. i have fixed the home slider. i am now wondering how to change the button in the lower righthand corner that tells you which image is coming next. i’d love to delete it or at least to be able to edit it or move it. is this possible? thanks you! emily

    You’re welcome.
    But now you switched to a different theme, so there’s no point answering this question.

    i’m testing other themes while i wait for a response. is there a way to delete the button?

    You can easily remove the word in the button (by editing the respective page and deleting its title), but you cannot remove the arrow and the white frame without the Custom Design upgrade.

    It seems to me that you’re trying to do something Stay isn’t designed for: the slider isn’t a slideshow of images, it’s a slideshow of images that link to pages.

    yes each of those images in the slider will link to that category of photos, the theme would work fine for that. my problem is that the button is not as minimal as i would like and i can’t change it. that’s too bad. the reason i have chosen the “stay” theme is because its the most minimalist theme i have found. thanks for your response.

    You’re welcome.
    Unfortunately you can’t have everything for free… Buying the Custom Design upgrade would allow you to restyle the button anyway you please. If you’re curious to see how this would work, I can work out some code for you to preview.

    wow thanks, that would be great – i’d love to see it. $30/yr seems reasonable for such a great program. could i get rid of the button and change all my text to lowercase?

    The custom Design upgrade allows you to change any aspect of the appearance of any element (fonts, sizes, colors, borders, position – you name it), including removing an element.

    Go to Appearance > Customizer > CSS, select all and delete (to remove the welcome message), then paste this to see how you would override the capitalization of the blog title and the menu items:

    .site-title, .navigation-main a {
        text-transform: none;
    }

    For a simple example of how you could restyle the button, paste this (it will remove the white frame and turn the text to light grey):

    .featured .hentry, .featured h2 {
    background-color: transparent;
    }
    .featured h2 a, .featured h2:after {
        color: #CCCCCC;
    }

    To remove the button altogether, you’d use this:

    .featured h2 {
        display: none;
    }

    wow – that looks so much better – thank you for creating the code for me! this is incentive to buy the custom design upgrade. i do have a question about the pages before i commit to this theme.

    is it possible to set up my pages to be full width (or to at least have space in my sidebars) instead of having the widgets or search bar on either side of my featured image? also, can i set up my “rooms” in two or three columns instead of one and get rid of the comment bar?

    thanks for all your help
    emily

    another question – is it possible for me to have a thumbnail of my “rooms” on the marsh page and then when i click on them, say “marsh 01” for example, to be able to have one full size photo? so far i find that if i have a featured image for the “room” then i automatically have a thumbnail on the parent page but its not a full size photo when i click into the “room” page. and if i insert a full size photo as media in the room page then i don’t have a thumbnail on the parent page.

    a) If you have the Custom Design upgrade, you can remove the sidebars, and you can manipulate things to display the “rooms” in two or three columns.
    b) To get rid of the comment section, you go to Pages > All Pages, click Quick Edit under the page title, uncheck the option “Allow Comments”, click Update.
    c) I must admit your last question got me confused: try setting the image as a featured image as well as inserting it as a full-width image so I can see what happens.

    hello, i am using the stay theme, switched to german language. but some strings are still showing up in english, for example “adults”, “children”, “arrival”, “departure” in the reservation widget,

    how can i enable a german translation for these strings as well?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to use stay on a self-hosted wordpress.org site? I can’t find it as an available theme and I’ve visited the automattic site, but couldn’t see an upgrade package for sale.

    TIA

    A small bug from the theme : I’m using Stay in 3 different languages and after finishing my first site, I exported the xml file, created a new site, installed the theme and imported the xml file. All works well except rooms that have not been imported.
