timetheif (BTW, isn't that a better handle for those of us who steal time from YOU?) :} Thank you once again for your excellent, detailed resonse. I'd have gotten back to you earlier than this, but when you told me I needed to straighten out my Personal Settings page so forum helpers could see what was going on behind the scenes, I went there and have been trying to sort things out in there ever since. The blog I am now developing is http://cookingwithmim.com. Previously I registered http://TheMonstaChronicles.com and monstacooks.com here. The resulting problem is that I have a jumble of blog names, passwords and such that I don't seem to be able to make match. For instance, my original sign-in name was monstacooks, and I don't seem to be able to change that. Please let me know if I have at least been successful in changing whatever needed to be changed for your purposes. I hope as least that worked out.
I will work my way through the links you have so kindly provided. You seem to have immediately answered at least my basic question in your post, which helps a lot. Now I know that my categories don't go "live" until there is something to fill them Thanks for that.
You are right in your assumption that I seek to have my blog look more like a website. It will be completely food-related, but even though I will post, I would like to file each post with its recipe under a specific recipe category once I have done the original post, since what I will be writing will be recipe-specific. I will read the links you have provided in that area of interest as well. Thank you for all your help.
