re-claiming a blog address

    Hi,

I am involved in a major scientific research council funded project, with a handy acronym. I want to be able to communicate our fieldwork photos and scientific findings to the general public through wordpress. Unfortunately the hand acronym has been taken already by someone. What is most frustrating is that this site is currently blank and has only one test entry back in 2006. Is there anyway to re-claim this blog address for better use?

    All the best,

    Tom.

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.

No there is not. There is no requirement that one has to use a WordPress.com blog they have registered under their WordPress.com username. More here > unused blogs

You can get the Domain Mapping upgrade and get Whatever.com or Whatever.org etc instead of Whatever.wordpress.com.
