Read More feature

  1. I recently switched my theme over to Neo-Sapien. It was hard to see how to comment if the full post was on my main page & that is where they landed, but it is easy to see if they were on the page for the article. I figured if I use the “read more” feature, that would put them on the page that it is easy to see how to comment. I had trouble finding the comments after I approved one and wanted to reply. When you click on read more, it takes you to the 2nd line of the paragraph it starts at and skips the first line. There is a blank line there in the edit box and I even tried hitting return to move it down but it moved back up. I am not sure I want to put a period there because it will look funny.

The blog I need help with is

  2. The front pages of our blogs are designed to provide quick page loading time as it's a pagreanking factor. On the front page of our blogs comments are "collapsed". Until we click the post title, the read more link, or the leave a comment link we cannot view the entire post on its own page and all comments on the post. Re: the read more link. If you believe your theme is not behaving correctly then note that theme Staff do monitor these threads and will reply to you.

  3. Thanks Timethief! I was thinking it was more that I am doing something wrong than the theme not behaving correctly. I appreciate your help!

  4. I did click into your blog and did click the read more link on your latest post. I found what you also found and it did not annoy me in the least because the text picked up exactly at the spot where I had reached the read more tag in the excerpt.

I don't know if it is or is not behaving correctly ie. if it ought to result in being returned to the top of the post or not, but I have flagged this thread so our Moderator's move it to the Themes Forum for you where Staff can answer you.

  5. Maybe it is just my monitor or version of IE that I am using - it misses the top line in the paragraph and I have to scroll back. I don't mind it going to the next paragraph, that would make it easier actually, but it shouldn't miss a line. Thanks again for your help.

  6. I don't use IE unless I am compelled to in order to assist someone else. I use Firefox 4.0. It's free. It works well and I never experience the problems those who use IE do. no longer supports IE6, IE7 and IE8 do have some issues. Upgrading to IE9 is recommended.

Which version of IE are you using please?

  7. I know I should change to something else. I am using IE8. Maybe I will try upgrading to IE9 and see if that works better. I know there are a bunch of problems with IE-no matter what version.

  8. It was the browser Timethief - I just updated to IE9 and it works OK. Thanks for all your help!

  9. That's great news. Thanks for returning and haring it. Happy blogging! :)

  10. If you hadn't taken the time to look, I never would have thought about the browser. I appreciate your help!

  11. Any time. :)

  13. Harry,
I'd like to respectfully request your cooperation. Please do not post into resolved threads it warps the fabric of cyberspace and creates bad karma. Please -- please do not confuse us Volunteers who are actually answering forum questions because you make us make us waste time when we could be helping someone else because when you do post to resolved threads we have to enter them again. :(
