Reader clicks on image, gets page, not enlargement

I’ve seen related queries, but not quite this one. Ever since the Media Upload re-do, when a reader clicks on an image within a post to enlarge it, he/she gets a page with the image unattached to the post. I finally figured out that if the reader THEN clicks on the image, it will in fact be enlarged, but this may not be all that obvious. I’m aware that these pages have always existed within the Media Library, but I don’t see what purpose it serves for the reader. Is there any way to prevent this seemingly confusing intermediate step from happening?

Also, I noticed another WP blogger complaining that clicks on images are now counted as page views. I agree that this doesn’t seem useful.

    This concerns the blog

The blog I need help with is

When you add media to the post go to the bottom of the window and change ‘attachment page’ to ‘media file’ then it will go back to how it used to be.
You won’t have to do this every time, I noticed once I did it the first time it stayed that way.

Thank you for your answers. That’s exactly what I needed.

You’re welcome. I found justpi’s link very useful myself!
