Readers can't leave comments
Some of my blog readers can’t leave comments. There is something wrong and it breaks my heart. We had a special blog event and at least 20 people contacted me to say that they couldn’t leave comments. :(
Now I just tried to leave a comment on a friend’s blog from my iPod and had an error. Here’s a link to the screencap from my iPod: http://fanvideos.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/error_message.png

Could you please fix this problem as soon as possible? Or at least put a solution in the error message? I can’t figure out how to post a comment on my friend’s blog on my iPod, so I have to rewrite the message and post on my PC. I should be able to post from my iPod, shouldn’t I? I think my friends and I should be able to comment on each others’ blogs from any machine.
Here’s a message from one of my friends: “I’ve been trying to comment on certain WordPress blogs, yours being one of them. Gravatar won’t let me! I can’t seem to do it and I don’t know why. The instructions I looked up said to delete the cache, which I have been doing, but so far no luck!”
Here’s another message: “Gravatar kept telling me to log in. I never had to before! Then when I did, it didn’t make any difference. I guess my blogging from Mexico and then Winnipeg from so many computers just screwed it up. It is the same from any browser I use, IE, Google Chrome or Firefox.”
And another: “I’ve been trying to comment on certain WordPress blogs, yours being one of them Gravatar won’t let me! I can’t seem to do it and I don’t know why. The instructions I looked up said to delete the cache, which I have been doing, but so far no luck!”
And another: “I have just one question regarding your blog. I tried to write a comment for the ‘Lucas collaboration project’, but I have the following message : ‘You must be logged in to comment with that email address.’ For your information, I had the same problem a few minutes before when trying to post a comment on another blog at WordPress for the Fanstravaganza. I hope that it’s just a temporary bug.”
Can you PLEASE fix the bug that is causing all these errors? WordPress has always been such a great blog host till about a week ago, just in time for our big event. :( And the problems continue. I don’t know which blog host to use if this isn’t fixed soon. Maybe I’ll just set up a website but I really don’t want to spend that much time coding.

What is the URL of your friend’s blog?
On your iPod, would you please make sure that you’re logged in at http://wordpress.com/ ?
Yes it does work if I’m logged in but I never had to do that before. It’s very difficult to log into my WordPress account on my iPod because I have a high security password. Why don’t you change things back to the way they were? Change is not inherently bad, but this is really making it difficult for others and me to leave comments.
Folks trying to comment now with an email address attached to a WordPress.com or Gravatar account will have to log in first.
When are you going to fix this? It’s making it much more difficult to comment than any other blog platforms. The error message says: “That email address is associated with an existing WordPress.com (or Gravatar.com) account. Please click the back button in your browser and then log in to use it.”
That information is not accurate! Clicking the “Back” button does not lead to the WordPress login page, but obviously it leads back to the comment page which means the user must go to wordpress.com, log in (which is very difficult on an iPad or iPod), and then RETYPE their message! How frustrating. I heard from 20 readers who couldn’t comment during our blogging festival. I can’t even imagine how many just gave up and didn’t even try to contact me.
I appreciate free bloghosts, but why oh why did you make that change? When are you changing things back to the way they were before you broke it?
Our developers are working on a fix for this which should be deployed very soon. I’ll reply back to you once it did. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
