The demo version of Rebalance has social media buttons in the same line with the blog title, i.e. in the right top corner, as it were. However, I can’t get them there, they appear only in the footer. What do I do wrong? ;)

The blog I need help with is altronapoleone.home.blog.

    Hi,

The Social Links section of the Rebalance theme guide says, in part:
Set Up a Social Links Menu

    1. Create a new Custom Menu, and assign it to the Social Links Menu location.
    2. Add links to each of your social services using the Links panel.
    3. Icons for your social links will automatically appear in the footer.

So the fact that you say they appear in the footer seems to agree with item #3 in the above list. However, I find the following results that disagree either with item #3 or with what you report.

    • I find that social links icons appear on the right side of the header area in line with title on the Rebalance demo and on a test site of mine with the Rebalance theme applied, though not on your site.
    • I don’t find a social links icons in the footer either on the Rebalance demo, my test site, or your site. If they are in fact visible to others, then suspect that their absence in my tests may be due to a particular add-on that appears on each of two browsers I used, or browser settings.

Because of the above discrepancies I’ll call for staff attention. Perhaps they can explain the unexpected results reported by you and I. Staff will respond here.

    Hi there,

Please follow @musicdoc1‘s instructions to create a new menu and assign it to the social location. This is the right way of getting a social icons menu on the top right of your site.

    @fstat,

What about item #3 in the list I quoted above? It says, “Icons for your social links will automatically appear in the footer.” Isn’t the location incorrect? Or does it mean that they will appear in the footer as well as in the social links menu in the header area?

I missed that part @musicdoc1. Thank you for pointing it out. I’ll make the necessary corrections.

No worries @fstat. I forgot to blockquote it. You can add the blockquotes if you want. It should have been this:

Set Up a Social Links Menu

    1. Create a new Custom Menu, and assign it to the Social Links Menu location.
    2. Add links to each of your social services using the Links panel.
    3. Icons for your social links will automatically appear in the footer.

I guess @1807blog might have been referring to displaying social icons in a widget when they said:

However, I can’t get them there, they appear only in the footer.
