i am trying to create a recipe index
I have created the page “recipe” and want to list my hyperlinks to recipes there and I know how to do that but my question is where do I put the recipe?

    Example:

    Recipe (Page)

Cinnamon Rolls (hyperlink) now where do I place the recipe fo the cinnamon rolls

White Loaf (hyperlink) where do I place recipe?

hope that makes sense. Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Eli

OMG your blog makes me hungry. Anyways, I recommend just adding the links yourself, or try setting the page as an achieve and see what happens.

You can’t link to things that don’t exist. So you have to write the posts that have the recipes first. Then take the URL for each post and use that in your recipe list.

And please give a link to your blog when you are asking questions in the forum so that we can see how best to help you. The best thing to do is link it to your username.

I created a recipe index on my blog — http://gherkinstomatoes.com — by creating the list of recipes and then linking to the post containing the recipe — it’s all manual, so if you have lots of recipes, you
d better get started now because it’s pretty time-consuming. You cannot link to the individual recipes, WP still doesn’t have the capability (as far as I know) of creating internal links within posts. As you can see, I just created a headnote at the top of the recipe page telling readers to scroll down once they get to the pages/posts with the recipes they’re looking for.

WP.com does indeed have the capability of linking within one single post. It’s called a jump and the instructions are here:

Interesting, thanks for the heads-up on this, but I get the feeling this just moves readers within a page, not from a page like a recipe index to the specific recipe in another post.

You’re right, I don’t think it does that. Which is why it’s easiest if each recipe be in its own post.

Page jumps (“anchor links”) also work across posts. In that case, instead of
    <a href=”#unique-identifier”>Click me</a>
    you write
    <a href=”URL_OF_POST#unique-identifier”>Click me</a>

    panaghiotisadam,

I’m going to try this tomorrow!

It’ll be a lot of work, BUT easier for readers, which is my goal.

    Thanks.
