Redirecting gmail to a WP domain redirected to weebly
Recently we redirected our site to weebly. We cannot get the mx records to work, because we get this message: Your nameservers need to be set to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM for these DNS records to work. I – which is what we had to change when we re-pointed the domain!
The blog I need help with is thrushpoetryjournal.com.
See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/
If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers. The nameservers control where traffic for the domain goes using DNS. If you are moving from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, you can enter the nameservers provided by your web hosting company to switch your domain to their hosting service.
If you are mapping a domain name to your Weebly blog – then you will need to change the MX records at Weebly not at WordPress.COM – the MX records need to be changed where there is traffic – nobody will ever visit your WordPress.COM blog
Thank goodness you arrived to straighten me out. :)
been done as stated above – that is working, we cannot receive gmail because of the requirement to have NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM for the MX records to work, and the weebly one’s to re-direct!
how about changing the gmail that is tied into WP? anyway to do that?
thrushpoetryjournal.com has their name servers set to Godaddy (domaincontrol.com) – you also seem to have a valid looking email MX records so email should be built into your Godaddy account
Isyourblogworking does translate the name servers to Weebly –
Is that the account you are asking about? If not we need the URL of the blog you need help with
Not sure where to send you for help – but this forum is only for those blogs that are hosted on WordPress.COM – does Weebly have a help forum or FAQ’s ?
Did a bit more checking
thrushpoetryjournal.com – was mapped here but is not anymore – when you changed the name servers that broke the email – you will need to ask over at Weebly if there is email with your account or how to change things to make your gmail account work – the MX records look like email is built in so there is probably some configuration you need to do over at Weebly –
how about changing the founding gmail used when this was set up? I can’t find where to do it, though, or if it can be done
it is REGISTERED with WP for $$$, hosted by weebly, so I would think it is a proper Q for here
As @auxclass indicated, your domain is currently using GoDaddy’s nameservers. This means that you won’t be able to change the DNS settings by using WordPress.com.
