For the past few days I’ve had a rather large number of referrers listed as being google.com/imgres or similar (.ca, nz, .au, etc.). After looking in the forums it appears that a few years ago some other bloggers had a similar issue – I don’t want to report these as spam, as I’m not entirely sure that they are.
Has anyone else noticed these odd referrers in the past 3 days? Are they legitimate?
The blog I need help with is sweetsuite10.wordpress.com.
If you have images on your site and they are indexed by Google and people are clicking on those images in an image search at Google, then you will get a referrer link. On average about 10 to 20% of my traffic from search engines is from images.
One of my referrers is en.wordpress.com/tags/swat-valley/
what does it mean?
shows two posts you made last month so someone clicked through to look at them:
—>Swat Valley traditions — 1 comment
itspak wrote 1 month ago: … more →
—>Malam Jabba there’s something in it.
itspak wrote 1 month ago: Hill Station Malam Jabba[/caption Swat is a valley and an administrative district in the Khyber Pakh … more →

yes i find it.
But why is it showing my posts
To come back to to the Imgres issue, I have also noticed almost all my referres are google.XX/imgres in the last couple of days.
It’s something that showed up just the last couple of days, and it seems like there are almost no other referrers.
I’m so glad I came across this original post — I have been meaning to ask the same question. I also saw a referral from a similar Google link and was curious, so thanks for the information!
I need to visit here much more often, as I have MUCH to learn as a first-time blogger…
It used to be that I could click on the google.xx/imgres link and find the image that the person was searching for. For the past week or so, all I get is the google home page for whatever country the person was searching from. I miss seeing what images from my blog people are looking at. Is this a glitch or a new way of doing things at WP? Thanks!
@itspak,for the most part, most posts on public wordpress.com sites are shown automatically on the wordpress community global tags pages. It is another way for people to find sites and posts that they are interested in.
@mfm999 — If you go to your “Stats” page and then click on “Links,” you will see what links have been opened (including photos) on your blog.
Hello – it used to be that way (i could see the actual links opened and their photos). Now when I go to my stats and click on them (e.g. “google.co.uk/imgres”) the link opens the google images search page instead of showing me a designkultur link to an image I’ve posted on my blog. Thanks for your help. Michael
When it comes to stats issues like the one you describe ie. possible changes to stats display we Volunteers are not able to assist. You will have to contact Staff. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.
