Registered the wrong domain name

  1. Hi

I initially registered the wrong domain name- entered .com in the name field so ended up with when registering for a free trial of a premium blog. I then went to register the domain I wanted under another email account thinking I could wait out the month trial while the other expired. When I did this I received an email saying I had registered the with the domain name I wanted where I've put mydomain. What's happened? If I try looking up it doesn't exist or can't be found. Can I delete these two domains and start again or can this be sorted out?

I've tried going to my upgrades in store to cancel the registration but it doesn't seem to be showing the option anywhere.

The blog I need help with is

  2. Will you please just provide the actual URLs involved here?

  3. Hi

The domain I initially registered by mistake by putting .com in the name field was:

This was registered to [email redacted].

I then went to register without .com in the name field but received:

This was registered to [email redacted]

  4. After you make the purchase you have to act on the domain mapping set up. As you have registered a blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here if you do not own a domain

See here if you already own a domain

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 - 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > What's important during that stage is to be patient.

I'll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  5. Thanks for the quick responses. I was under the impression through registering for a premium account and asking for .com I would just get Am I missing something on that point?

Interesting what you mention about the 24-72hrs wait if upgrading- maybe I just need to wait in this instance too?

  6. The domain has not been registered yet. You can register it at or get a premium upgrade at
