Remove blog posts slider from static front page

    Hi. I have just published my first blog post, & a brief summary is showing up on my static front page. I believe this is considered part of the “Featured Content slider.”

    I want my static front page “Welcome” to only display my welcome message, & all blog posts to show up on the “Blog” page.

    I have my Reader section set to the following:
    Front page displays
    A static page (select below)
    Front page: Welcome
    Posts page: Blog

    Featured content
    Tag name: NO
    Number of posts: 1
    “Check” Hide tag from displaying in post meta and tag clouds.

    I have never used CSS for anything before, so I am unsure how to disable and/or remove the slider from my website’s static front page.

    If anyone can help me with this, I’d greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you so much!

    The blog I need help with is

    The slider/featured content shows at the top of the page. Check the theme demo:

    To remove the post excerpts from the bottom of the page, add this in the CSS editor: .front-page-grid .hentry {
        display: none;

    Thank you so much! Such a simple fix, but one I would’ve never been able to do on my own.

    I was wondering, is there any reason why a blog post excerpt would show up on a static front page? Is it part of the theme that I just didn’t understand, or was something messed up in my preferences.

    Thanks again!

    Widely is designed so that the home page – static or not – will show the slider if assigned the special tag and a featured image.

    Special posts deserve a special place. With Widely, every post assigned with a certain tag and given a featured image will be displayed in the Featured Content Slider on the home page of your site.

    @rich: But Elisabeth isn’t asking about the slider.

    @elisabeth: You’re welcome. Not it’s not something you messed up, it’s a feature of the theme – sort of a Recent Posts widget, but with excerpts instead of titles only.

    Never mind then… I’m moving along. :)

    @justpi Thanks for clarifying. I appreciate all your help.
