I upgraded my blog to a custom registered domain. I am wanting to use that domain for an online portfolio instead of the blog. I need to get rid of my blog and remove registration for the domain so I can purchase it elsewhere and create a new site.
The blog I need help with is logandugard.com.
Canceling a domain means you completely give up ownership of the domain and can take up to 35 days before it will become available to register somewhere. If you would like to completely cancel your ownership of the domain name, please reply to confirm.
We are only able to offer a refund if we receive notification within 48 hours of the purchase.
If you would like to transfer the domain to another registrar, you can use these steps.
Otherwise please follow this guide on how to create a website instead of a blog on WordPress.com:
I want to make a WordPress site for my portfolio. But the way this is set up it does not allow me to upload other themes I want to use for my website. Is there a way to allow me to upload my own theme? If I could upload my own theme I would love to keep the domain as is. Does that make sense?
WordPress.com comes with a pre-selected range of 200+ themes, some of which work really well with portfolios of different types. If you do a search for the word “portfolio” in the theme directory, you can check out a few potential themes:
Third-party or custom themes can’t be uploaded on WordPress.com. You can learn more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here.
If you want to keep your domain name and switch to a self-hosted site, I suggest you either transfer the domain to another registrar or
leave it registered here and update the name servers to point it to your new host.
