    I am new to blogging and currently trying to navigate my way round the forever theme. I would like to stretch the main body to 1 column not 2, by removing the sidebar. I followed this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/make-photos-bigger-than-width-of-forever-theme?replies=9
    but was unsuccessful. Is anyone able to guide me in successfully removing the sidebar please?

    The blog I need help with is jslittlephotography.com.

    Unfortunately not, the side bar area remains. Although blank, it still holds it’s column. Thank you for your suggestion.

    I can see something is amiss with the CSS editing you did as the whole theme is shifted to the right. Not to worry as either another Volunteer or Staff will assist you as soon as they can.

    The reason the other CSS example didn’t work in your case is because you have added some additional custom CSS that changes the container width for the #page element:

    #page {
    	margin: 1.615em auto;
    	width: 1200px;
    }

    What that means is the 890px width isn’t the right one for your use case, so you just need to adjust that.

    Try using percentages instead like this:

    #primary,
    #content {
    	margin-right: 3.64%;
    	max-width: 100%;
    }

    #secondary {
    	display: none;
    }

    It looks like you also have several duplicates of that other example with the wrong width for what you are trying to do. Make sure to remove all the other previous custom CSS you added related to the width and the margins and the max-width for the #primary and the #content and the #secondary selectors before adding the new example.

    Also don’t forget to change the Content Width setting in your Appearance > Customize > CSS panel after the new example is in place. The Content Width setting works to set the size for full width media embeds such as galleries. It looks like since you have a 1200px width on the #page container and about a 3.64% margin on each side, so you’ll probably want to set the Content Width value to about 1112px in that case. If you change any of the numbers for those widths or margins in your CSS in the future, you will want to make sure to also adjust the Content Width value accordingly.
