Removing document from wordpress site and Google search
I recently searched myself to see that a document I unlinked weeks ago (from my WordPress site) is still searchable on Google. I just went in and permanently deleted it from WordPress media, but I STILL found it on Google. What should I do? I’d really prefer it NOT be searchable.
Thanks so much,
The blog I need help with is aleciablair.wordpress.com.
Google clears their caches every 3 – 6 months or so and we have no control over that timing at all. If you wish you can enter your Google Webmasters account and use the URL removal tool. It’s up to Google Staff’s discretion whether or not they will schedule removal sooner than when the caches are cleared.

That is all fine, but under WordPress Security, I specifically selected that my site remain un-searchable to search engines. Why did this show up at all?
I have contacted Google and hope they will remove the URL. My phone number is listed, so I am VERY upset.
This may answer part of the question:
Just to clarify, the document I am trying to remove was a document that I added to Media in WordPress. I have completely deleted the document from my WordPress site and checked to make sure I have no old links. I can understand if this was happening to a webpage, but this was a linked document?
Still waiting for a response from Google. I have requested the document/url be removed using webmaster tool url remove.
Any other recommedations? Is it possible for the document link to be embedded in my WordPress site without me knowing? Thanks!
Airodyssey–So to clarify, are you saying that someone may have linked to my site and therefore, the link is still showing up in Google search? My site wasn’t really open to people, so I doubt anyone has linked to it. I was keeping it quiet while under construction.
We have no control over Google’s index. Eventually, they will realize that the document no longer exists and remove it from their index.
It looks like your blog was set to block Google less than two months ago. If the document was available before then, it was probably indexed before the change was made.
Thank you macmanx. Is there anyway to contact WordPress’s webmaster just to make sure that the document is completely gone. Are you able to check that? I can provide URL.
I’d like to make sure the doc is completely gone just in case Google asks me. I REALLY appreciate your help.
And just to clarify, I don’t remember having my site set to anything other than set to block search engines, so it must have been set to open very briefly. Just my luck! Frustrating.
The weakest link so to speak in situations like this are those we reveal the URL of a private blog to. If they post that URL anywhere on the internet it can be indexed by search engines. If the URL for the document you deleted now produces a “404” page not found then IMO you ought to be focused on what I said above.

The file is definitely gone, so it’s entirely up to Google now.
