Removing sidebar entirely

    Hello,

    I am using the Forever theme and would very much like to remove the sidebar completely – to work with ONE column, not two.

    I currently have a blank text widget in there.

    Would the CSS upgrade allow me to remove the sidebar?

    The blog I need help with is eskimotionvideo.com.

    To hide the sidebar completely and make the post and page content area full width, add this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page:

    #content {
      max-width: 890px;
      margin: 0 3.645833333333%;
    }

    #secondary {
      display: none;
    }

    @timethief — That hadn’t popped up in my search, so thanks.

    @designsimply — Thanks much!

    Is it possible to remove the sidebar from only one page?

    I found this thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-hide-excerpts-from-front-page?replies=2

    that had relevant information about hiding the excerpt content on the homepage, and I was wondering if it was possible to extrapolate that idea and a) remove the sidebar instead of the excerpt content and b) do it on a page that wasn’t the homepage.

    I’m at http://featherbyfeather.com/ and I’d like to hide the sidebar on the about page: http://featherbyfeather.com/about/

    I tried changing the code from the forum for manipulating just the homepage from:

    .home .entry-content p {
    display:none;
    }

    to:

    .about .entry-content p {
    display:none;
    }

    to see if the entry content would disappear from the about page, but no dice.

    Apologies for clumsy beginner coding and thank you so much for all of your good help!

    Each post and page has a unique class and you should be able to use that to make changes to one specific page using that class. In your case, the class for the ‘About’ page is “page-id-2” and you can hide the sidebar and widen the content area in the Forever theme on just that page, you can use this CSS:

    .page-id-2 #secondary {
    	display:none;
    }
    .page-id-2 #content {
    	margin-right: 0;
    	max-width: 890px;
    }

    @daisyfraser, please start a new thread since your question is about a different theme compared to the other questions in this thread.
