    Removing the footer is against the terms of service and will get your blog suspended. This is regardless of upgrades or premium themes and even applies to VIP hosting clients. See point 11 of the ToS: https://en.wordpress.com/tos/

    No, it is not possible to upload custom themes: http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

    Even if it were, it wouldn’t change the fact that ALL blogs hosted on WordPress.com are required to keep the footer intact, regardless of any upgrades.

    The only way to not have a footer is to set up a self-hosted blog using the WordPress.org software. You can learn more here: http://wordpress.org/hosting/

    You can adjust the look of the footer to match your CSS customizations though. Perhaps that would help? Here is an example that might work for you:

    .site-footer,
    .site-footer a {
    	color: #29676B;
    }

    The footer credits must remain visible and clickable. Changing the color with those things in mind can look nicer though. :)

    The video is only for WordPress.ORG software. It is not for WordPress.COM blogs.

    The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs like your blog are the themes found here http://wordpress.com/themes/

    There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:

    upload any third party themes,
    create child themes,
    create our own themes,
    edit templates,
    create own own layouts,
    or use stylesheets from other themes.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

    There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install.

    That smiley indicates the stats are being recorded.

    11. Attribution. Automattic reserves the right to display attribution links such as ‘Blog at WordPress.com,’ theme author, and font attribution in your blog footer or toolbar. Footer credits and the WordPress.com toolbar may not be altered or removed regardless of upgrades purchased. http://en.wordpress.com/tos/

    May I remove the Admin Bar, credit links such as ‘Blog at WordPress.com’, theme, font, or toolbar links?

    All WordPress.com bloggers are required to maintain the Admin Bar (the dark bar that appears at the top of WordPress.com sites when logged in) as well as credit links, even our VIP bloggers. Please do not hide or alter text or links for the footer credits or the toolbar. Modifying the style of the footer text (i.e. colors and font size) is fine as long as it’s still readable. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

    i just wanted a custom footer.

    Provided you purchase a custom design upgrade http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/ and renew it every year you can do that as designsimply has described at: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/removing-the-footer?replies=9#post-1934130
