    renew domain that is in redemption

    We have a domain that is currently in redemption, but cannot fingure out how we can renew this. We get a total price including the $80 late fee, but do not see any options to actually purchase the domain.

    The blog I need help with is denverzoomasterplan.com.

    Hi there, since you domain was purchased by another user (dzfplanning) that person will need to log in and renew it through their account, under Store > My Upgrades:

    That person no longer works here and we no longer have access to that account. We thought that by transferring ownership to my account, I would be able to control this site in the future. Any way we can change the domain registration to my account.

    I found the login credentials for the dzfplannig account. I went ahead and renewed the domain using those credentials. Is there any way we can transfer the domain registration to my account.

    You can transfer upgrades to another account

    Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades >> if you mouse over the upgrade you will see a choice to transfer to another user –

    be very careful when you follow the instructions, if you make a spelling error in the To account you will need the staff to help retrieve things for you

    I dont see transfer to another user, just transfer to another site. It might be because it is still in the process of renewing.

    I just checked my Store section and it does say To another site – my bad memory – I have flagged this for the staff to help

    To help the staff would you please – while logged in as dzfplanning ask very specifically to transfer what upgrade to what account – then they can do the transfer the first time

    I’ve transferred the domain to zoosysop as requested. You can now log into the domain manager to update all the domain contact information as needed.

    Since a site’s upgrades aren’t necessarily owned by the primary site administrator, they are not automatically transferred when a site changes owners – sorry for the confusion.

    So does this make all Upgrade transfers a staff needs to help?

    Seems to me that another option could be transfer to another account, not sure how many times that happens in a year so might not be a high priority to add that ability

    dzfplanning – I took one final step to fully transfer the domain to zoosysop, so that the old user account, dzfplanning, will no longer be able to have access to the domain manager.

    You will still need to log into the domain manager to update your contact details – this is important so that the email, registrant name, and other information connected with the domain stays accurate and up-to-date. If this info is not correct it can cause problems in the future.

    auxclass – in general transferring upgrades between users requires staff intervention. Building in a facility for folks to do this on their own may be something we look at in the future but I don’t have an ETA. :-)

    @kathrynwp – thanks for the clarification – just wanted to make sure I was giving accurate advice – I will now just flag user to user upgrade transfers for staff help, with the advice for the user needing the transfer to make the request very clear so you can make the transfer the first time in the thread

    auxclass – yes, that is excellent advice – if we get a clear request from the start, including all custom domain names, URLs, and usernames in play, it definitely makes the process go faster. Thank you!

    I did that above here – some times when I am in a bit of a mood I will advise them to use small words or small words of two syllables or less :) – at any rate for them to please be clear – most want help and make it clear – first time fix reduces your workload and speeds up helping people – everyone wins
