Renewing an expired domain

  1. Hello, I did not pay notice and recently saw that the domain I registered with expired. seems to open a page but does nothing. On loggin in wordpress I get message that I need to redirect domain to certain wordpress server. As I cant access my domain I cant do that. The domain is registered with wild west domains but as I registered the domain on wordpress I dont know how to renew it. Can some one help me know how to renew this...thank you

The blog I need help with is

  2. Your domain registration is in Redemption - you will need staff help to renew - I have flagged this for staff attention to answer with more information.

  3. The domain "" expired on February 1. It is currently in "redemption" - this means that the domain is deactivated, but has not yet been fully released. During this time, you can still renew this domain, but the process is more complicated then a regular renewal.

If you want to get this domain back, you have several options:

    * We can renew the domain for you, through our registrar. This costs $97, which includes $17 for the domain and an additional cost of $80 for a late renewal. We have no control over this additional cost, as it is levied on us by out domain registrar.

    * Try to register the domain through a domain back-ordering service, such as Pool (Registering starts at $60 with Pool)

    * Wait until the domain is out of redemption and becomes available for registration again, and then register it again for the regular price of $17. This would run the risk of the domain being registered by someone else before you, or the domain not being released for registration at all. The exact redemption period and the release of the domain are at the discretion of our domain registrar and we can't control it.

If you want to have the best chance of getting your domain back, your best bet would be the first option - we will renew your domain for you through our registrar and it will be automatically restored to your account.

If you want us to renew the domain for you, please transfer payment through PayPal.

Go to PayPal, and transfer US$97.00 to "[email redacted]".

In the comments field, please enter payment "For renewal of domain:".

After you transfer the payment, please reply to this thread and send us the transaction ID you got from PayPal. We will contact our registrar, and they will reactive your domain within a few days, if not hours.

PLEASE NOTE: Time is of the essence here. Because your domain is very close to being cancelled, it may no longer be possible to recover it. If you pay for renewal and we are unable to recover the domain, you will be fully refunded.

  4. thank you, $99 is a lot of money for me, i volunteered to make this website for someone and promised to maintain it. The renewal slipped from my mind. I dont think anyone will claim that domain once it is out of redemption period. My only concern is when will it be out of redemption period ? Can you please help me in this regard, can I talk with some one who can just restore the domain for $17 ?

Thank You for replying to the thread

  5. My only concern is when will it be out of redemption period ?

It takes about 90 days for a domain to completely expire and become available again to register, so one option is to wait for that and try to register it before anyone else does. It’s solely up to the Registrar whether to make a specific domain available or not. Getting your domain back again is not guaranteed.

  6. Keep in mind there is a whole industry out there that buys expired domains and squats on them and holds the name hostage - we have seen it happen several times here to non-profits -
