Request to transfer subscribers
Hello! I would like help to transfer the jetpack email subscribers from my old .com address to my newer self-hosted address. I have jetpack installed on the self-hosted site.
Please let me know if you need any more information. For what it’s worth, I tried feedburner for a few months, but I miss Jetpack. It was SO MUCH better!
The blog I need help with is ninabadzin.com.
I have tagged this thread for Staff to transfer your email subscribers for you. If you subscribe to the thread you will be notified when they respond.
Thank you! I really wish I had just gone this route in the first place. Oh well!
I’m interested to know in what ways JetPack is better than feedburner.
Well, I guess to be fair I’ll need to be using jetpack for subscription services for a few weeks to really compare. Feedburner sometimes doesn’t deliver the post. Also, you have to click through several pages to get to a very un-user friendly section on feedburner to manage things like delivery times and see your subscribers. While we’re on the topic, will I be able to control delivery time frame via jetpack?
I agree about the clicking one has to do re: Feedburner.
it’s the subscribers who control the frequency of receipt in the WordPress.com system. Staff can answer how it’s done on WordPress.org installs when they respond to this thread.
will I be able to control delivery time frame via jetpack?
Unfortunately that option isn’t currently available for Jetpack.
Could you please confirm that you still want us to go ahead with the transfer of email subscribers? Thanks.
Yes, please do the transfer. And is there a link that will show my the new page of addresses? I do not see an obvious when I click on the jet pack tab on my blog. Thanks!
I’ve transferred your email subscribers as requested. WordPress.com followers cannot be transferred at this time.
To see your subscribers, you’ll need to log into your WordPress.com account and go to the Stats tab. Just let me know if you have any trouble finding them.
Found them! Another question: what if people want to subscribe in a reader, not through email? Does Jetpack do that too? Do I need something other than jetpack’s email subscription box in my sidebar?
People can always subscribe to your RSS feed – I see you already have a link to your Feedburner RSS feed in your header. If you stop using Feedburner altogether, WordPress’s built-in RSS feed is here:
Kathryn, you’ve been so helpful. I’m sorry to keep bugging you. I’m sure just really nervous to do this wrong. Many of the people on the transferred list had resigned up when I asked them to switch to feedburner. If I delete them off of feedburner, I don’t want to lose them forever. These transferred addresses are good to go even though they may have signed up originally on my wp.com address two years ago? They don’t need to reconfirm or anything? I’m hoping to compare my two lists and delete any repeats on Feedburner and ask the feedburner-only addresses to switch over. My fear is also that people will end up getting more than one email with my posts.
Thank you again, Nina

Correct. No re-confirmation is needed, they should get your first post automatically.
My fear is also that people will end up getting more than one email with my posts.
You could deactivate the Feedburner email option in their control panel to ensure that doesn’t happen, after copying out the emails of any folks you might need to contact.
Just let me know if you have any other questions, I’m here to help. :-)
I too would like to transfer my email subscribers to my new WP.org blog
old blog: urbancountrystyle.wordpress.com
