Restarting with new address

    Hi everyone,

I want to restart my blog/website, but I read that it’s not possible to reset blog statistics. My current blog has about 4.400 hits and I would like to restart with zero.

Apparently, the only thing I can do is register a new blog with another address. Unfortunately, I cannot register an address with my username (stefanvlieger), because when I just started using WordPress I created a blog with that name but deleted it. I didn’t know that the site address would never be available again.

I would really like to have back, is it really impossible to recreate that? And what’s the best alternative for a new blog? Something with a – or _ in the address or maybe numbers?

The blog I need help with is

Deleting blogs (3 warnings plus and email with confirmation link you must click)

If you delete a blog you will not be able to get it back and no one else will be able to use that blog name.

    No recycling of blog URLs

Yes it’s impossible. I have been here for 4 years and have yet to witness a recycled URL for any member being reactivated. If such was the case I would be asking Staff to get my original deleted blog URL back. No we cannot use hyphens in URLs.

I believe the best alternative may be to register a new blog using your first name initial and surname in the URL. example: Do note that you don’t need to use a different email address get a second username to register another blog. Just log-in to and point your browser to to register your new blog.

My surname is ‘Vlieger’, so I’m already using my first initial + surname. By the way: I’m from the Netherlands and ‘lieger’ is (literally translated) the Dutch word for liar. Not a great blog name to attract much visitors. ;-)

I’m already using a domain name for my current blog (, and I just found out I can change the redirected URL for free. I thought I had to register a new domain name to change svlieger into the new blog address, but I was wrong.

In short: it’s not a problem for me to register a new blog name. But thanks for your help anyway! =)

I just found out I can change the redirected URL for free

    Really? See here >

My domain name is not hosted here, but on My domain name is now redirecting to, but I can change that address for free.

Ahhh … now I see what you mean.

You cannot get the old address back, but you might ask Staff to reset your current blog. That would probably be everything, not just statistics. The worst that could happen is they’ll say no and then you’re back to the original plan above.
