Same content at two locations (will search engines “punish” my blog?)

I am a complete neophyte to blogging and WP. I am putting my content both at and

I have two very simple questions:

    1. If I put the same content at both addresses, will the search engines downgrade or somehow punish my blogs?

    2. Is there any kind of code I can put on my WP blog so that it redirects to my hosted version or is an upgrade to mapping the only option?

Thank you in advance for your help.

The blog I need help with is

Yes posting the same content on both sites will make the search engines frown upon your site rank and could get your sites indexed as spam.

    Thanks for your help.

Since I can always tell my host to redirect to WP whenever I do maintenance, I am thinking of only listing my hosted address.

Now two more basic questions (sorry):

    1. How do I de-index or de-list my WP blog?
    2. Is it possible to “route” my WP feedburn and its subscribers to he hosted site?
If not, will maintaining the WP feed also affect my site ranking?

You’ll need to contact staff for those questions to be answered

    1. You can do that through Google webmaster tools for the blog you aren’t going to use, but I’m not sure about the other search engines.

    2. You can burn the feed from within your feedburner account for the new blog and then replace the URL of the old blog with the new on in the feedburner email subscription area. That is what I did and it worked seamlessly.

On the blog that isn’t going to be your primary, I recommend setting it to the middle selection (block search engines) under settings > privacy. That way the search engines will eventually drop the links to that blog in search results.
