Scheduling posts to the past doesn't work

  • I reblogged a post from my other site to wordpress.com blog and chose to publish it at the same date in the past. The current (beep-beep-boop) editor allows to choose the date and time of publication. However, the post was published with today’s date. And this is not the first time.

I have to go back to the classic admin (one more reason to bring back the link to it in the new dashboard) to edit the date to the one I need through the quick edit in the posts list (both missing in the new admin, by the way).

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • @andykrillov, I have not been able to replicate your issue. I have no problem scheduling a post to the past with the new editor.

This sounds like an issue with your browser. Have you tried using a different browser?

Please make sure that your browser is up to date by visiting http://whatbrowser.org/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I am using Maxthon. Quick edit in the classic dashboard environment as well as in the full edit there works. What didn’t work twice is back-scheduling in the beep-beep-boop editor.

I tried Tor browser now. I don’t know why but a tested new editor opened (I am a participant in testing new features) all of a sudden and obviously there is no way of changing it there to the current editor (although in Maxthon I am not automatically given a tested editor). And in this new environment an error “the user cannot edit posts” prevents me from checking if back-scheduling works in Tor browser.

  • @ariwinokur

Tried posting from Tor via the classic admin/editor with a past date. It worked. So obviously something is wrong with the new editor.

  • And in this new environment an error “the user cannot edit posts” prevents me from checking if back-scheduling works in Tor browser.

This makes it sound like you might have been logged in with a different account or something happened to your local browser session and I am not sure what could have happened. A first, basic troubleshooting step I would recommend for this case would be to try clearing your browser cache and logging in again and then try back dating a post again.

I did test this with the latest editor (the ones currently being tested), and I was able to back date a new post I created to a date/time in the past and it worked normally in my test.

  • I couldn’t have been logged in as a different account as there is only one blog on this account. And I couldn’t see if the latest editor works in back-scheduling as I was prevented from publishing a post.

  • I re-read your comment, and it sounds like you might be using an unsupported browser. These are the supported browsers: http://browsehappy.com/

You should be able to back-schedule if you are using a supported browser. If you’re still having trouble and you are using one of the browsers on the list, please let me know.

  • @designsimply

I resent this browser discrimination. People can’t be all caged into five “supported browser” cages. Besides, I can change User Agent description in Maxthon to Chrome or any othe browser if I choose so.

  • I’m sorry for the trouble. I’m not familiar with the Tor browser. I do know that the browsers used by the majority of people according to stats are worked on first.
