Seeking theme to cross-promote writing and photography

  1. I'm sorry if this is not the proper forum to ask this question, and assume admin can re-post if necessary.

I'm a non-fiction writer who wants to promote my ability to take photographs for the assignments I write. I therefore need a writer-focused theme that can publish both writing and photography portfolios. (And by portfolios I do mean static pages to promote previously produced content, if it makes a difference.)

I've found many themes for writers, and many for photographers, but when it comes to finding a theme that can serve someone who is both I am hitting a wall.

Can anyone who has been in the same boat offer suggestions or advice for how to proceed in my search?

  2. Hi there! I'm not in the same boat, but I'd be happy to try to help you choose a theme that fits the bill.

Here are a few themes that come to mind:

    Boardwalk - http://boardwalkdemo.wordpress.com/
    Cubic - https://cubicdemo.wordpress.com/
    Pictorico - https://pictoricodemo.wordpress.com/
    Sketch - https://sketchdemo.wordpress.com/
    Harmonic - https://harmonicdemo.wordpress.com/

You might also like to explore the portfolio shortcode as a way to display portfolios in a tailored way, in any theme:

    Good luck with your site!

  3. Thank you so much. I'll check those out asap.

  4. I should point out, I am willing and expecting to purchase a theme for use on a self-hosted WordPress site.

  5. Ah, I see! You're actually in the WordPress.com forums, which is for folks hosted here. :-)

To get theme recommendations for self-hosted sites, I'd suggest you post in the WordPress.org forums:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forum/themes-and-templates

You'll need a free WordPress.org account to post - if you don't already have one, you can register here:

    Good luck choosing a theme!

  6. Thanks again. I had come across that forum, but it seemed less appropriate to post my question there. I'll give it a shot now.
