Seeking widget to display recent and/or favorite posts

  1. I have created a 2-column WP blog; not yet live. My posts will appear in the left-side column. The right side column is called Recent Popular Posts. There are many WP widgets available for this feature. Most of them, however, seem configured t display (automatically) a given number (x) of the most recent posts. That's not what I want, because it would simply duplicate the x-number of posts my left column. No, what I want is a widget that will allow me to select which of all my posts will appear in my Recent Popular Posts column. For instance, say I create 5 posts, with these titles: One, Two, Three, Four, Five. Say I want Three and Five to appear as the newest posts in my Recent Popular Posts column. OK, so, I need a widget (or plug-in, etc.) that will enable me, say, to check a box on posts Three and Five that causes those posts to appear in Recent Popular Posts. (Note: the widget needs to be customizable so I can choose, say, the title + first line or two of post + thumbnail — rather than having the entire texts of Three and Five appear in Recent Popular Posts.) Later, if I want to remove those posts from Recent Popular Posts, I would be able to simply unselect them, and also able to select other of my posts to go into Recent Popular Posts. Any ideas?

  2. We cannot even begin to help until you post an active link starting with http:// to the exact blog you refer to.

  3. Well, the thing is, my WP blog is not yet live, because I'm still creating content, and also because the aforementioned feature (Recent Popular Posts) isn't yet functional.

  4. Please provide the URL anyway as if it's private we Volunteers cannot see the content but we can see whether or not it is a free hosted blog as opposed to a WordPress.ORG install.

    Comparison here > vs.

  5. Thank you. That's what I thought. Is hosted by HostGator ie. it's WordPress.ORG install and you are posting to the wrong support forum. Wee cannot help you here with any site not being free hosted by WordPress.COM. If you don't have a username account at WordPress.ORG click and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

  6. Thanks for the info. I'll follow your suggestion.

  7. You're welcome and best wishes.
