Send Push Notifications
A feature which I would really like to see added to all WordPress.com blogs is the ability for an administrator to send push notifications to users currently reading.
By push notifications, I’m referring to the notification in a browser, which would probably be sent via the Dashboard or Calypso by an administrator. The reader would then receive the push notification in their browser, or at the very least, on the top right of the website.
I feel that this is a feature offered by many websites, and it’d be very useful if WordPress.com blogs could be enhanced using it as well. I find it difficult to foresee potential issues which could occur, and if they do exist, the positives definitely outweigh the negative issues.
In the event that it’s not something the WordPress.com team aren’t willing to completely create, there’s a huge variety of plugins which can accomplish this. Not only does this prove the demand for this feature, I don’t see why one of these can’t be added to all sites on WordPress.com rather than just those on the Business Plan: https://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/push-notifications/
Push notifications can easily be considered an essential feature, and I doubt many would consider upgrading to the Business Plan just to use them, so I’m really hoping that they’ll be available for all sites as well.
Thank you. :)
The blog I need help with is clubpenguinmountains.com.
Thanks for the suggestion. We’ve added it to our internal ideas tracker.
