Server uptime (connectivity)

  • For the last 4 days or so my connectivity has gone down in quality, significantly.

I saw the LiteSpeed Server (server busy) page several times and the other error message from my browser (about the page failing to load) about 20-30 times in the last 4 days (but take into account that I have been making posts and editing stuff on frequent basis)

I just wanted to report this in case there’s a problem. I suppose we can always host on our own.

  • I am not experiencing any problem whatsoever. My connectivity time is almost instaneous.I have received no error messages and I do spend a good deal of time on line on wordpress making posts, editing and in the forum.

  • Fine here although I am experiencing issues at times with the net in general. (You’re getting actual LiteSpeed error messages though and that’s something different) You may be hitting their hourly backups though. That would put strain on a server.

  • It has happened twice today. I’ve been on for about 3 hours now. It’s 2:30pm EST and I’m trying to wrap up my editing.

At this very moment, I’m having a lot of trouble loading the site (even some tiny pages I have) I can access Yahoo.com, CNN and even Lorelle’s blog on WordPress but my pages either don’t load or when they finally load I get an older version of the page (older by say 30 minutes)

It’s more than frustrating because it has been happening very often.

Is there anything wrong with the particular server my blog is on?

Or am I just hitting the server during their hourly updates?

I have no clue, but I need to do something about it.

I would hate to lose my URL (thousands of incoming links) and the SEO I get out of being on WordPress.

  • *humour* OMG, you’ve only been here three months (like me) and you have thousands of incoming links. Perhaps you could share some tips with the rest of us.

Setting the humour aside – perhaps you should send in a feedback.

  • Re: links

MSN says I have 6,281 incoming links. Alexa says between June 26 and June 30 I had reached 650 out of each 1 million people with that one article I wrote that mushroomed all over the Internetz. It means 650,000 people supposedly read it according to Alex. I got about 60,000-65,000 hits out of it according to WordPress.

The delay problem is very intermittent.

My “about” page was updated and saved/published. After that I ran into the “delay”/connectivity issue. I was able to load the “about” page but it was the older version. So I had to update it once again.

I tried reducing the number of posts on the front page so the page can load faster but I found out the issue has nothing to do with page size. My “about” page is tiny. I had problems accessing it today as I was just saying.

As far as secrets for the traffic: I’m working on figuring it out. The digg mafia seems to have turned against me (I cut off their funding.. lol [joke]) I think it’s been said that 0.03% of digg’s users are in control of what gets dugg to the front page. The word is that they’ve formed gangs and they’re taking turns (like 13 year old IRC operators. In fact, for all I know they may be 13 year olds)

P.S. I’ve been here on WordPress for 58 days to be exact.

What article?? Can I see?? I need to think of something to get myself famous or wrote about in magazines. Other sites I visit, alot of those bloggers have been written up in magazine articles by a story they wrote or by a picture they posted. I have to think of something. But congratulations!

  • Tell me which magazines, I tell you which article ;-)

It’s the “Wikipedia 3.0: The End of Google?” See it on my blog under “navigation”->”web 3.0″

I’ve been thinking of getting some magazines to write about what happened. It isn’t about the traffic. It’s about the fact that I was first to popularize the term Web 3.0 in conjunction with the Semantic Web, which started a new wave/push for Web 3.0 (and the Semantic Web) as a natural consequence.

Now that is something to write about.

Hey why don’y you write an article about that? :)

    Marc

  • I’m not a writer. I’m an entertainment gossip goon. :) I cut and paste. lol So you’re smart?

  • lol Me so something ‘)

    for sure
