Setting up a custom gmail

I recently bought the domain upgrade so that I have my custom domain, however when I tried setting up google apps it seems like Google has changed something and the instructions on WordPress for setting it up seem outdated. The instructions said to use CNAME to verify the domain, but on Google there are 4 other ways, none of which seem to work. What should I do to set up my custom email?

The blog I need help with is italianandvegan.com.

These are links to the guides:
Setting up email with Google Apps > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/google-apps-email/
Adding custom DNS records > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/#adding-custom-dns-records
I’m not clear on why they aren’t working for you so I have flagged this thread for Staff attention.

thanks but i’ve already checked both of those guides, it seems that google has changed the methods of verification and now you can’t do what that guide says, and none of the other ones seem to work..

As I said above I’m not clear on why they aren’t working for you so I have flagged this thread for Staff attention. Please be patient while waiting for a response. :)

Good is testing a few different variations right now. Unfortunately, we can’t make a guide for each variation.

At which step are you running into trouble with http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/google-apps-email/ ?
