Sexist ads – complaint from reader
I’ve just had a complaint from one of my readers about the sexist and exploitative images (partially clothed women accompanying text which infers sex) used in some ads on my blog. I have a screen shot they have sent to me.
Please remove these ads from my blog and stop them or similarly sensationalist or discriminatory images appearing again.
The blog I need help with is conchie.co.
To off-set the costs of providing free hosting to millions of bloggers, WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. If the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts then provided you see this small About These Ads link what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising. http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/
Any other ads appearing to you are not placed by WordPress.com. If you see any other ads then you could have an issue on your browser or computer. Unfortunately they can be being placed there by software on your own computer or your visitors’. Such ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or adware found in some games and shopping sites and toolbars that may have been installed in a browser.
WordPress.com Staff aim to provide only family friendly ads. The definition of that will of course vary from place to place and country to country. Example: what religious schools in North America consider to be family friendly and what public schools consider to be family friendly vary from place to place and from continent and country to continent and country.
Note that I’ve been here for over 8 years and the complaints I have seen were all created by malware, adware and viruses on the computers and browsers of those who complained and or on their visitors’ computers and browsers.
These sites have further explanation and suggestions for eliminating the ads:
If you try those solutions without achieving success then will you provide a screenshot for Staff please? I’ll tag this thread for their attention. You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide screenshots you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.
