Should I delete .com blog after move to .org with Jetpack?

  1. weedyseadragon

Hi. I started my free .com blog and have now created a functioning self-hosted .org blog. I did not have a custom domain in but obviously now have a custom domain (

I have installed Jetpack and linked my .org to my .com account.

I saw an answer to a previous question stating that the best way to redirect people from the .com to the .org would be to put a final post up and also some text in a side widgit.

My question is, as I only had 3 posts, only a few replies, and only a few subscribers, what do you think of deleting the .com blog altogether? Will this adversely affect my Jetpack connection?

Thank you for your help wonderful WordPress people!

The blog I need help with is

Provided you are logged in under the username account that registered the blog you can delete it by using these instructions.
Please note that deleted blog URLs are not recycled.

You can make the blog private and use it as a test blog and backup blog.
You can hide it from dashboard display as well.

Hey, thanks timethief. I didn't know about those options - wonderful.

I assume, because you haven't mentioned it, that neither of these options will adversely affect my Jetpack connection.

  4. I don't think so but I know diddly squat about JetPack.

  6. I flagged this for a Staff response so we can hear the answer and I can sleep well tonight . lol ;)

  7. Deleting your blog won't affect your current self-hosted .org site. If you want I can move the followers that were on your blog, to your .org site.

    Looking forward to your reply.
