What is the nature of the problem you have encountered?

And no, you cannot use external themes on a WP.com blog.

@scientistdude, you really need to provide some detail. “Facing sidebar problem” tells us nothing.

That’s easy. It’s the commonest sidebar problem. Just look through the other posts in the Sidebar tag here in the forum and you’ll find both the cause and the cure.

There are 5 sidebar areas in the Motion theme. Are you putting the widgets into the one called “sidebar”?

hi…..what is the charge to upgrade my blog from WordPress.com to my-domain.com……and what features and support i will have if upgrade?

in the upgraded will i be able to add widgets and themes from the net?

what about copyright issues in free version?
and what about any ads that would be added to my free version blog…will i get full revenue or what?

If you go to appearance > widgets and there are no widget showing in the main sidebar, then what you are seeing is a sample display of widgets put up by the theme so you can see what it looks like and so it won’t be just a big empty space. Once you add a widget, then the sample set displayed by the theme will disappear. You then go ahead and add all the widgets that you want to have in the sidebar and then arrange them in the order you want them by drag and drop.

If you get your own domain name and map it to your site here, then all you get is that your wordpress.COM site shows up with your own domain name. Your site is still hosted here so that means all the same restrictions and Terms of Service still apply.

From the domain mapping support document:

    Important Notes Before Upgrading

Same Rules Apply – The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required to abide by our Terms of Service.
