Site is blocked by administrator. Block Reason: FORBIDDEN CATRGORY "NOT RATED"

  1. when i entered my blog/site address into the address bar, i got this: THIS SITE HAD BEEN BLOCKED BY THE NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR. BLOCK REASON: FORBIDDEN CATEGORY "NOT RATED." Will someone PLEASE let me know why this happened and how I can get my blog/site back up ASAP. I use the blog for my non-profit organization and we have a fundraiser in once week. I NEED to have the site up now!

The blog I need help with is socialimpactinc.org.

  2. Are you referring to the blog linked to your username or to another blog? Please confirm the URL starting with http:// for the blog in question.

Are you using a computer at work on a network and being blocked by the network administrator there?

  3. Provided your are referring to a free blog being free hosted by WordPress.COM , what is your status/role on the blog in question? Are you an Administrator, an Editor, an Author, or an Contributor? See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/

  4. http://socialimpactinc.org

I'm using a work computer, but not at work. I've been informed by several people that the site is "down"

  5. ha what i mean to say, i'm using a work computer on a wireless network and got that msg. I was also informed by other (non-work) people that the site is "down"

  6. It sounds like your work IT department has blocked your blog. I get that all the time when I try to use Internet on the ferry. Because there are some WP.com blogs that might be mature, it throws them all in the category of porn. Contact your IT department and ask that they whitelist your domain and WordPress.com.

I can see your blog, it's fine.

  7. I can view your blog also and agree with raincoaster's advice.

  8. Timethief, hi. It's me again. I am freaking out right now because I was in the middle of working on my blog, when a message popped up that my blog has been deactivated! I have no idea why. The message said all kinds of things that do not apply to my blog: Here is the message that popped up:

    Dashboard
This blog has been deactivated because we believe it does not comply with the WordPress.com Terms of Service or advertising policy.
If your blog is designed to promote affiliate links, get rich quick programs, banner ads, consists solely or mostly of duplicate or automatically generated material, or is part of a search engine marketing campaign, WordPress.com is not the place for you. Please use the Export feature to move your content to a more appropriate hosting service.
Occasionally we make mistakes. If you believe we have misclassified your blog, please click here to contact us as soon as possible so we can fix the problem.

Nothing in there applies to my blog. It's a regular blog with normal blog-stuff like articles & stories I write, news items, music recommendations, etc. Nothing at all negative or ban-worthy. I'm so confused why this happened. I emailed support & asked them to look at my blog so they can see that there's nothing negative on it. But what else can I do?

I spent the last 2 weeks, hours per day, creating my blog & now it's gone. I didn't bother to make a copy of most of the content because I just assumed it would always be there. Please, any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

  9. Just to be clear (after re-reading the message that deactivated my blog):

    > there was no advertising at all on my blog/my blog does not sell anything

    > my blog did not promote affiliate links (not even sure what this means, really, but I'm pretty sure my blog didn't do it)

    > I'm already rich, so the get rich quick thing is out

    > there were no banner ads on my blog

    > there was no auto-generated material on my blog, but there were a lot of duplicate links because I had a Music section arranged by country in which I included info about the artists & the country they came from, so a lot of that was duplicated because more than 1 artist comes from the same country in each music category

    > I don't know what a search engine marketing campaign is, so my blog didn't do this

    I think that covers it...

  10. @nefertizahra - the blog linked to your name loads fine for me some sort of a Pets to Go site.

If you have another blog that was suspended you have a link to click on to contact the Terms of Service Dept and you need to deal with them, they do make mistakes on occasion.

We have been ask not to discuss suspensions in the forum as suspensions are between the TOS dept. and the blog owner.

  11. Hi auxclass, the Pets to Go site is a site created by the WordPress.com course I took to learn WordPress. The course just ended, but I'm keeping the site for awhile in case I need to refer back to some of the lessons/examples in there.

But I had just started creating my own site, and that's the one WordPress deactivated for some reason. What is TOS?

  12. TOS = Terms of Service

Sample and class sites are good.

There should be a link for you to contact the staff about your blog - by using that link your reply will go directly to the people that deal with blog suspensions.

  13. TOS = terms of service.
As auxclass said, this is between you and that department. Use the link on the notice on your dashboard to get more information.

  14. Sorry auxclass, I should have refreshed!

  15. No blood no foul,
