Site is private, but settings said it's public?

Hi! I started a second site months ago, but I decided to change the wordpress url to match my site name. My friend wanted the new url, but when she typed it in, the site said it was “marked private by its owner,” so I tried on my laptop and it said the same thing, unless I was redirected to it by my other blog. In other words, I can’t access it by typing the url and it’ll say it’s private. I checked the settings for that site, but it was on public??

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

The blog I need help with is robinettacomic.wordpress.com.

    Hi there,

Both your sites are publicly visible (raisincolor.wordpress.com and robinettacomic.wordpress.com). If the problem is on another site please give me the address so I can have a look.

    Hi there,

I also see only the two sites @fstat mentioned, and both of them are definitely public. If you or your friend are getting private site notices, please try clearing your browser cache. If you’d previously tried to access the site while it was still private your browser might be “remembering” that and showing you what’s in its cache instead of checking for new information on the site.

@fstat @kokkieh it works fine when you click on a link or if it redirects you to the site, but the problem is when you manually type the URL, robinetta.wordpress.com

Thanks and sorry for the difficulty!

Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.

The site’s owner can change blog visibility to Public by going to > Settings > Reading scrolling to Blog Visibility. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account

If the login information has been lost go to
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#lost-password

If required use the account recovery form
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form

robinetta.wordpress.com is under another WordPress.com account and not the one you’re posting to this thread (pandotaro).
You need to log-in into that account and change the site visibility by following the guides provided by @timethief.

https://robinetta.wordpress.com/ is not in your account, as @fstat also said. You have a second username, robinetta, and you need to log in as that username to access that site, which is indeed set to private.

If you can’t remember your password for that username, you can see all the account recovery options in @timethief‘s reply above.

@fstat @kokkieh I don’t remember creating another user, but I did try to log in using all the passwords I used associated with WordPress, but I can’t get in; I even tried to recover the lost password by the username, but it doesn’t seem to be any emails I have that’s linked to that username

@timethief really sorry! I didn’t realize I was making separate post! As I mentioned earlier, the password recover didn’t work for me, but I’m gonna try the account recovery option

Make sure that you are completely logged out of this account when trying to reset the password. For good measure, clear your browser cache and cookies as well after you log out, and only then try to reset the password.

Let me know if it still won’t work and you’re also unable to submit the account recovery form.
